Gente Nicki Minaj older brother accused of rape

Nicki Minaj has stood by her older brother by reportedly posting his bail after he was charged for raping a 12-year-old, according to Page Six.

The article reveals Minaj paid $100,000 to allow Jelani Maraj to be freed from custody in Nassau County on Friday. The bond is backed by two homes that are owned by Minaj in Baldwin, a place located in Hempstead. One of the homes is used by her brother, while the other is occupied by her mother.

Court papers reveal the superstar singer put up the $100,000 bond that sprang Jelani Maraj, 37, from custody in Nassau County on Friday after he was accused of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against the preteen.

The bond is backed by a two homes in Baldwin that are owned by Minaj — one of which is used by her brother and the other by her mother, Carol.

Minaj will be responsible for fees associated with the bond, where she’ll be required to pay six to 10 percent of the bond amount in order for it to be secured. That converts to $6,000 to $10,000.

Originally, Nassau prosecutors asked for $500,000 in order to bail him out. Minaj was willing to pay that amount by offering a letter of credit from a California bank account that has over $2 million in funds.

ʻʻShe was prepared to do anything for her brotherʼʼ, a source said of Minaj. Minaj will be responsible for the fees associated with securing the the bond, typically 6 percent to 10 percent of the bond amount, or $6,000 to $10,000.

Had the bail been higher — and Nassau prosecutors had asked for $500,000 — Minaj was ready to offer a letter of credit from a California bank account worth in excess of $2 million, the source said.

The bail was handled by celebrity bail bondsman Ira Judelson, according to court papers. Judelson’s cases include Dominique Straus Kahn’s $6 million bail bond, and the bonds for Plaxico Buress, Lil Wayne and Kat Williams.

Judelson declined to comment on the Maraj case, as did defense lawyers Ben Brafman and Andrea Zellan.
